Hi Alexey, thanks for the message. A 1-2 week visit ~Feb. 1 looks good. Would likely be good to have a phone meeting to discuss items in your list below. Perhaps next Monday? mike

Subject: [esa-t474] ESA activities in Jan/Feb 2008

Hi all,

Bino and I were thinking about what needs to be done in the ESA before the run in April, actually well before that run as there will surely be a lot of things to do just before the run. As we may not have another high energy operation period, we should be prepared.
So, a draft plan for some work we think of doing in January/February next year is below. Please, add anything you believe we missed!

Best regards,
Alex

ESA - End Jan/Beginning Feb 2008 ???
************************************

- one to two weeks
- 2 people from UK
-> Bino, Stewart - if no clashes,
      Alex - depending on visa/passport, Gary - ?
- Michele, Sergey - if we plan to do some magnetic measurements

- TODO
******

1. calibration tone system
    ------------------------

    - take calibration tone data over long periodes without beam
-> need to analyse the data maybe before !!!!

    - upgrade/expand the system : upon availability of new components
-> need to order components a.s.a.p.
-> replace some of the amplifiers with higher power ones
-> revise the cabling - 1/4" cables to processors and from
calibration system, patch panels for BPM cables and couplers
-> think of a more efficient way of feeding the cal tone in
-> if needed, bring some of the cal system boxes back to UK

    - need BPM system simulation finished for next run !

    - more temperature sensors inside the processors.
-> do we have enough AI channels on the breakout box, or VSAM ?
      -> more temp sensors ?

2. uk bpm mover system
    -------------------

    - integrate into SCP : o need ampl voltage which is high enough :
                             check mover ADC specs !
--> amplifier or other means of getting
                                 high enough VDC ?

    - code in MINT to handle the ADC level as trigger for calibration
cycle : need to code the calibration routine in MINT

    - setup macro which does the calibration with the ampls..

    - test & setup the scripts to directly analyse the calibration runs

3. online monitoring
    -----------------

    - do we need new modern pc+screens for monitoring ?

    - get some code up and running based on libbpm for online
monitoring... recycle mark's stuff ?, build new Qt interface ?

4. magnetic measurements ?
    -----------------------

    - need spectrometer simulation finished by next run

    - do we want more measurements ? : talk to sergey, michele ?

5. zygo studies ?
    --------------
